Our Story …

Everyone has been or will be touched by cancer at least once in their lives, either personally or through someone they love. Ali and Pete have been - both of their fathers died from cancer and Ali is a cancer survivor - and that’s why they decided to enter the autumn Shitbox Rally again for 2021 and help raise money for the Cancer Council. The Cancer Council is the nation’s peak non-government cancer control organisation and advises the Australian Government and other agencies on practices and policies to help prevent, detect and treat cancer. The Shitbox Rally along with its baby brother Mystery Box Rally have raised $24 million for the Cancer Council over the last 11 years. The two rallies are the Cancer Council's biggest single fundraiser. You can help Ali and Pete meet their fundraising target and help in the fight against cancer by giving whatever you can. Remember donations greater than $2 are tax deductible. The more people that know about cancer, the work of the Cancer Council and the part Box Rallies plays in the fight against cancer, the greater the impact so please spread the word among your family, friends and work colleagues by liking us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/BeardiesBucket) and sharing our page. Find out more about the Shitbox Rally and its history at www.shitboxrally.com.au. Thanks for your help!

Here's what I'm doing …

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

Thank you Beardie’s Bucket for your selfless contribution to our fund raising effort - especially when you are flat your raising funds for your own contribution. Our area has been devastated by the bushfires, but we luckily have not been impacted directly - although , as you can appreciate, it is difficult to ask for donations to the Cancer Council in an area so impacted by bushfires - it seems insensitive to even ask. We really appreciate your contribution - so much so that we want to reciprocate. Thanks again - see you in Alice.

Just saw this message from you! We had planned to donate all the proceeds of all our remaining fundraisers for the cancelled 2020 rally split evenly to all the fire affected teams so no-one missed out (we were already at $8,000+) but they were all cancelled because of COVID! Now everyone's over the line so all good. We've got our first post-COVID fundraiser coming up on September 12 - a Bunnings sausage sizzle - so things are kind of getting back to normal. Thanks for your kind words, and your donation! See you in Alice. Pete and Ali

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

Almost $24 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

  • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
  • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
  • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
