We're pleased to announce that we'll be taking part in our 5th Shitbox Rally in May 2021!! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Alice Springs to Gold Coast via the Gulf of Carpentaria but not before travelling for 5 day to the start line from Perth. Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 12th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $8,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the 2021 Autumn rally target set at $2,000,000 plus. These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
The route has been announced for the 2020 Shitbox Rally|Autumn and looks a cracker at just under 4000km with a 50/50 split of sealed and unsealed roads. 6 stopovers that we have never been to let alone heard of so that will be interesting!!!
Without your support of Cancer Council and the funds raised through Shitbox Rally all of this wouldn't happen. no funds raised = no rally likewise no rally = no funds raised. So we need your help to help support Cancer Council researchers.

We have in our possession what is our oldest vehicle (35yo) with the highest speedo (435000km) to perform in the longest rally (6500km) over the most days (4 to the start line + 7 on the actual rally)
What could go wrong!
Well we have hopefully (fingers crossed) sorted one of the most important factors on a Shitbox during the rally...…..overheating! The Celica was showing signs of this while on the highway but we have this now sorted with a new Radiator fitted along with a Hi-Flo Thermostat. So far so good after testing in the recent heat on the freeway.
Stay tuned BAT friends...…………………………………..
Progress on the cosmetic surgery is well under way but now we need to run some health checks on the heart & soul of the BATBOX Racing CELICA!! She's well worn and getting a bit tired so over the next 80 days we need to make sure she has another 6500km left in its old bones.
Thanks to the team at Richards Tyrepower in Osborne Park who have once again supported us with a set of GOODYEARS to safely get across this great nation of our. Thanks to Bryn, Richard for your continued support, please support them when you need new tyres & expert advice.

NEWSFLASH: 2020 Shitbox Rally organisers have announced, due to the unprecedented situation we are currently experiencing in Australia, that we will be postponing this years Autumn Shitbox Rally to May 2021.
What does this mean for our supporters and the people and organisations that have already stepped up to the plate and generously donated and supported our 2020 vehicle prep??????
THE SHOW GOES ON! yes we will continue to get the mighty old BATBOX Racing Celica ready for the very challenging route across OZ, but most importantly we will continue our push to fundraise for cancer research in Australia and we have already lifted our target for 2021 to $20000 from $10000.
Our health is our most important asset which is more relevant today than ever in our history, so join us on this unknown journey and help continue to fight cancer head on with Cancer Council.
Thank you, stay safe and look after each other
The BATBOX Racing Team.
